Frozen Margarita Maker
Margarita recipe for ice cream maker?
Does anyone know a margarita recipe that you use and ice cream maker instead of a blender? I don't have a blender but I do have an ice cream maker and would like to make frozen margaritas that are slushy.
Thanks in advance
key lime ice cream (see below for recipe) (or try using your own ice cream?)
Tequila of choice
Triple sec
Milk
Fresh limes
Sugar (optional)
Kosher Salt (optional)
For 1 16 oz margarita - adjust for desired volume
place in blender:
7 oz key lime ice cream
7 oz milk
1 1/4 oz tequila
3/4 oz triple sec
Fresh lime juice and sugar to taste
Blend until combined thoroughly.
YOU CAN PUT THE BLENDED MIX IN YOUR ICE CREAM MAKER to create a really thick milk shake or even to the consistancy of ice cream (then you have margarita ice cream).
Optionally wet edge of glass and dip in salt to line rim of glass
with salt as with traditional margarita.
Key Lime Ice Cream
3/4 cup sugar
2 eggs
1/2 teaspoon grated lime peel
1 cup milk
1 cup miniature marshmallows
1 cup whipping cream
1/2 cup Key Lime juice
2-3 drops green food coloring
Combine sugar and eggs and mix thoroughly. Add peel and milk.
Thicken slightly over medium heat and remove from stove. Add marshmallows and stir until melted. Cool. Add juice and whipping cream to the cooled mixture. Add food coloring as desired. Crank up the ice cream machine.

Recipe : Margarita Ice
Less alcoholic than a frozen margarita, this spiked fruit ice makes a refreshing, tart finish to a rich meal. You will get more juice out of the limes if you warm them in a
bowl of hot water or the microwave before squeezing. If you don't have an ice-cream maker, freeze mixture in a shallow freezer-safe container until slushy; beat until smooth. Freeze and beat again, until mixture is firm. Beat again just before serving.
Makes 4 servings
RECIPE::
Zest of 3 limes
1/4 cup + 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
3/4 cup fresh lime juice
1 1/2 fluid ounces (3 tablespoons) tequila
In small saucepan, combine zest, sugar and 3/4 cup water; bring liquid to a boil.
Reduce heat to low; simmer, covered, 10 minutes. Remove from heat; let stand 1
hour, until flavors are blended.
With slotted spoon, remove and discard zest; transfer liquid to medium bowl. Add juice and tequila; stir to combine.
Transfer mixture to ice-cream maker; freeze, following manufacturer's directions.
Transfer frozen mixture to 1-quart freezer-safe container; freeze at least 1 hour longer.
