Kitchen Aid Mixer Question?
I've just bought a heavy duty kitchen aid mixer (a k5 planetary) and I'm thinking of returning it because it's very awkward to use. But i think i might return it for an artisan mixer from Kitchen Aid also.
So, what's the difference between a Heavy Duty and Artisan Mixer from Kitchen Aid?
Which one do you have?
Which one overall is better?
I have the heavy duty and I wouldn't trade it in for the world. When it says "heavy duty" it really means it. I even use mine to make butter from cream. Yes, it can be a little awkward at first, but you'll get the hang of it soon. The initial awkwardness is far outweighed by the speed in which it performs. It can whip egg whites in no time, the dough hook is fantastic for homemade bread dough quickly and with no kneading. Having this machine has also empowered me to try lots of new recipes and techniques that I wouldn't have success with using a less powerful machine.
I keep mine on the counter top so I don't have to maneuver it from the appliance garage whenever I need it, do you have yours out? I just pull it out toward the front of the counter a little when I'm ready to use it and rock on.
I'd go with the one which has the greater horsepower, and that's the heavy duty.
