Does anybody have a Kitchen Aid mixer meat grinder attachment?
I'm looking for the opinions of anyone who owns one. My wife and I have a Kitchen Aid stand mixer and I am considering buying a meat grinder for use on venison.
Does anybody else out there have this attachment? What do you use it for, and what do you think of it?
I have one and use it frequently. It works great for the occasional user. If you have the standard kitchen aid the motor may get hot grinding a lot of venison. It is really ment for up to 5 pounds at a time.
A couple of tricks.... 1. it is very important to keep the blade sharp, otherwise your burger will be mushy. 2. use ice cold meat (if not a little frozen) this helps the blade slice through meat and fat. otherwise some of the fat and conective tissue can glob up the whole system. This is especially important when making sausage.
