Coffee Maker Copper
Is it still safe to use an appliance with a melted electrical cord?
We just bought an expensive coffee maker that we love. It was next to our toaster oven and low and behold the heat of the toaster melted the insulation of the coffee maker's wire really bad. There is a small section where you can see the copper wire showing through. It almost looks like that melted a tad bit too, but it is a very small amount. The machine still works. Is it safe to continue using it? Will electrical tape be a good enough fix? Is there any other way we can fix this or are we stuck buying another machine??

The very pc brigade will tell you of death fire destruction , dead little old ladies and children piled high on you kitchen floor, but the REALITY is as you say, all that is needed is some electrical tape and COMMON SENSE. Whatever these people would have done in the war makes me shudder.
