Cup Micro Rice
I'm trying to make sushi and onigiri (rice balls) and i need some help!?
1. What kind of rice can I use for a rice ball? Can i just get plain old regular rice from my local grocery store and steam it?
2. Exactly how should i steam the rice? Can I use it to Steam the rice? If not could you post a link of where i could find one (needs to be an online ordering place).
3. Filling ideas for the sushi! Can i put chicken and beef in there? Just some ideas or successful recipes.
Oh! Please provide lots of links and stuff for anything you can! I like people to use a lot of links so if you do then Dōmo arigatō.
Oh yeah and what kind of rice can i use?
The shorter grain you can find is the most appropiate for making sushi or onigiri, since this typ of rice has a lot more starch it will become sticky enough for you to manipulate it as dough.
Don`t worry, it`s pretty easy to make. Use one cup of rice for 2 and a quarter or a half cup of water (this rice needs to be muhier than normal rice, where proportion is 1 c of rice per 2 c of water) a tablespoon of sugar and a tbsp of rice vinegar. Let it boil and then lower the heat and let cook.
Once the water is gone turn the heat off.
Filling ideas: I think beef does not go with sushi at all, but that is just my opinion. Original recipes use fish, shrimp or any sea product. Chicken and beef are not typical fillings for sushi, but hey cooking is about innovation and creativity.
My fav filling is cream cheese, cucumber, shrimp, pineapple and that wil be a very tasty sushi or onigiri. Smoked tune is awsome aswell
