What is the best way to froth milk without the help of a cappuccino machine?

I have an Athena Barista machine, but for a cup I like to use the stove top coffee maker. The only problem is to skim milk. The microwave was a disaster messy. Any input? Also tips on measuring small quantities of coffee. Thanks

On the stove top: Let the hot milk over low heat until hot. See the foam on top when ready. If you let the hot milk over high heat, it will produce a nice foam. Enjoy!
