Steam Espresso Machine
Has anyone made tea using an espresso machine?
It seems to me as if it should be theoretically possible to make tea using pressurized steam, using crumbled up tea leaves tamped down, but how does it taste? Black or green? Can you drink it full strength or does it need to be watered down afterwards. Would it ruin the machine for making coffee again afterwards?
I wouldn't recommend using a traditional espresso machine to make tea, unless this is a pod espresso machine and you're using pod teas. Using whole leaves could impact the taste and flavor of your next espresso, plus your tea could have a very bold, espresso like flavor. If you're looking for a way to brew whole or crumpled tea leaves, I'd use a cheese cloth to make a small pouch, tie it off, then brew in hot water, or you could always invest in tea bag filters or a diffuser.
