House Home Citrus
My Cat is driving me INSANE? UPDATE?
I posted this yesterday. Down below are some things i forgot to mention
She is climbing the artificial prelite tree that I got last year. She is bending branches and knocking off ornaments. Oh and eating the fake needles then vomiting them. What a joyful thing to come home to or wake up to. Cat vomit and a frazzled tree. I can't put her in a room she goes UNDER the door to get out.
Anything I can spray around the tree to make her stay way yet let us be in the room?
Ok somepeople mention citrus spray as did my vet..I went and bought it. Didn't matter to her she went up it ANYWAY. The vet gave me some pills to calm her down. Those don't work either. She has food all the time and kills mice.
I have to have the tree up in the living room. Because I have a 4 1/2 y/o and a 5 y/o step son and Christmas without a tree is NOT right to them. Rest of the house is bedrooms or bathrooms. AND it prelight with steady burn lights, no tinsle, she steals the silver shatter proof ornaments,
You could actually consider buying a real tree. My cats over the years would just drink the water or lay on the presents under the tree. When we got a fake one they climbed all over it.
You cats feels like you are bringing the outdoors inside for her. You could try spraying her with water when you catch her climbing, or getting an empty tin can and putting dry beans in it...then shake it when you see her being bad.
It takes time for a cat to learn. They usually learn if it benefits them, so be sure to give her a treat every once and awhile when she does what she's told.
All I can suggest for the time being is placing all expensive or fragile ornaments closer to the top of the tree so they do not break. You could always get her, her own tree. =)
Good luck.
